Dr. Athira Panicker

Project Manager: Electricity and Utilities

Dr. Athira Panicker is working at the intersection of electricity distribution, demand flexibility, and clean energy transitions. She has over 7 years of experience in the energy sector, with expertise in understanding electricity consumption and distribution systems through data-driven and socio-technical approaches, with a particular focus on agricultural and rural electricity demand.

She holds a PhD and M.Tech from IIT Bombay, where her research focused on electricity distribution system design, distribution transformer loading, seasonality in electricity demand and demand response strategies. Her work combines energy modelling, field-based research and stakeholder engagement to develop practical approaches for improving the efficiency, reliability and flexibility of electricity systems.
